- Explore the latest electric cars, vans, and bikes from local dealers.
- Test rides on e‑bikes and the chance to chat with real EV drivers.
- Driver Display Zone: see a variety of EVs up close, from family‑friendly models to cutting‑edge tech.
- Live demos: Vehicle‑to‑Load (V2L) powering kettles, cooking, and more.
- Food & drink available on site.
⚡ Charging in Kendal Today
- Kendal already has nearly 20 public charging sites, including ultra‑rapid Smart Charge bays at Sainsbury’s.
- Fun fact: just like filling up with fuel, every Smart Charge session earns you Nectar points — add electrons and points while you shop.
- Other rapid options include RAW Charging at Booths and GeniePoint at Sainsbury’s Mint Bridge.
🏠 No Driveway? No Problem
- Around 30% of Kendal homes don’t have off‑street parking — you’re not alone.
- Local solutions:
- Co‑Charger: book a neighbour’s charger.
- JoosUp: one Kendal host already live.
- ChargeShare: expanding north, with nearby hosts.
- These peer‑to‑peer options are often cheaper than rapid charging and mean you can top up close to home.
📈 Charging Tomorrow
- Westmorland & Furness Council has committed to 1,860 charge points by 2030 and over 3,300 by 2035.
- RAW Charging and the National Trust have already installed 240 chargers at heritage sites, with more Cumbrian locations expected soon.
- RHS and English Heritage are also expanding their networks — so charging while exploring the Lakes will only get easier.
